10 Tips For A Happier Life
As a life coach, I believe that whatever goals people are working on in their life, at the end of the day they truly want to be happy. So today I’ve put together my 10 tips for a happier life.
GET CLEAR ABOUT WHO YOU ARE AND WHO YOU WANT TO BE
You need to be clear in what it you want in order to actively go after it. Instead of just jumping into what you want, take a moment and start with who you are and who you want to be. When I first learned about the law of attraction I wasn’t happy with the way I was living my life and the person I was being. So, I got clear about the person I wanted to be and made it a priority to become that person. I knew that what I wanted to achieve in my life needed to start with who I was.
For you this may be that you want to be more confident, so you’ll want to set time aside regularly work on this area.You need to be clear in what it you want in order to actively go after it. UNDERSTAND THAT REAL HAPPINESS MUST COME FROM WITHIN
I know our friends, family, experiences, and some things definitely add to our happiness, but ultimately real happiness has to come from within. In my course Design Your Best Life I help you to start to figure out who you really are and what you goals are. The beginning to finding real happiness.
Look to yourself for happiness rather than expecting others to make you happy. Your goal is to be happy deep down and anyone or anything else simply adds to that happiness. If you are constantly looking for happiness from everywhere but yourself you will be looking for a very long time.
MAKE A DECISION TO BE HAPPY
Yes, you have to decide to be happy. Because if you haven’t actually DECIDED you are going to be happy. There are too many ways to get off track. You will get stuck in your old habits and happy will once again only be what you want not what you are. So seriously, make a decision to be happy, make a decision to make being happy a priority. Write it down!! Every achievement starts with a decision.
MAKE TIME FOR HAPPINESS
One of the questions I would often ask coaching clients was “What have you done this week that really made you happy?” More often than not I got silence as the reply. This makes me sad. I hope this is not you, but if it is, it’s time to slow down and prioritize your happiness.
MAKE A HAPPINESS LIST
Make a big list of things that make you happy, things you really enjoy doing, Add anything you enjoy doing, no matter how small it seems. If it makes you happy to do it. Write it down. Maybe it is the peace and quiet with your morning coffee, working in your garden, curling up with a good book.Yes, you have to decide to be happy. OK now remember – Make time for that happiness. Do as many of these things every day that you can..
VISUALIZE YOURSELF HAPPY
Imagine yourself being, feeling really happy. How do you hold yourself? What are you doing? How do you interact with others? Picture it in your mind. Where are you? Who are you? Visualizing the life you want is incredibly powerful and always time well spent.
Declarations are positive, they are commitments we make to ourselves. They differ from affirmations. I have a problem with affirmations. Most require you talk in present tense, like the action is already happening. All too often our little voice negates this and our subconscious doesn’t believe it. Thus, it doesn’t come to pass.
With a declaration you are stating what you are going to do. Much easier for the subconscious to grasp. Here are a few declarations for happiness that I like.
I am creating happiness in my life every day
I am going spread happiness everywhere I go
I am going to be happier every day
You can of course create your own declarations. Just watch out for any negative self talk and replace it with something positive.
Take the time to watch a funny movie. Watch funny videos on Instagram or Facebook. Get some good ole belly laughs in every day. I love the auto-correct bloopers that show up on Facebook from time to time. Oh they make me laugh. Some of them are just hilarious.
Every night when you lie in bed. Think about your day. What were the happy points? Don’t focus on the unhappy points. We only what happy thoughts here before we go to bed. Can’t remember? Write them down? Which brings me to the last tip.
KEEP A HAPPINESS JOURNAL
Keep a daily happiness journal and write about things that have made you happy every day. Keep em coming!! Write in as many things as you want. However, to start I recommend you focus on just 3 things daily.
This will help you train your mind to focus on happiness and the happiness you already have in your life. Read them every night before you go to bed and every morning when you get up. It forces you to focus on the happy things to start your day.
