Goal setting 101!

Every Monday I set new goals for the week. This week has been particularly great!! I have accomplished all and then some!!!

But it has been the first in a few weeks to go on schedule. The trials of starting a new job I guess.

Anyway. The last few weeks have been REALLY interesting. What I’m noticing is that even though it’s been stressful, taking the time to pay attention to my mindset … has paid off!!!

Even though there’s a lot happening, I’ve been able to manage my emotions and not get overly stressed out and anxious. Sometimes I find between my day job and my coaching side line business I am so “on” for every one else that My own mindset and life become increasingly hectic and scattered. To be so focused for everything else but me!! I have been working on changing that.

Overcome the fear of goal setting

I have slowly transformed my life and my mind…I have upgraded and changed some of my goals. I just want to share all of that with you. Because I want YOU to do the same – to feel empowered and inspired and proud of yourself.

After reading your emails and your DM from Instagram that I’ve been receiving, I am starting to realize is that the whole concept of ‘goals’ is …kinda lost in space for some.

Most of you understand the value and necessity of setting goals, but I wonder how many set intentions? What’s the difference? Goal setting helps us to see the future, understand what we want, create a plan, and stay on track to get it done. Sounds wonderful, but for some, there is a downside to goal setting. It takes us out of the moment and creates an emphasis on what we currently don’t have. I totally get it. Sometimes when we set goals and fail to achieve them, the act of goal setting can lead to a sense of, not only failing, but of being a failure.

So let us set inspired goals with intentions instead.

Setting intentions allows you to focus on who you are in the moment. Setting intentions is a powerful way to go after success in any area of your life.  Daily intentions can help you do that. They also provide a road map and reminder for how to live out each day. Intentions give you purpose, as well as the inspiration and motivation to achieve your purpose. The practice of setting daily intentions can change your life.

Overcome the fear of goal setting

So what I want to do is help you set and achieve INSPIRED intentions. I don’t want you to think about the next holiday you want to go on or stress about how much weight you want to lose.

Let’s  first think about who you want to be, and what you want your life to look like. then we can figure out the intentions that you should be setting to make this happen!.

This is a more inspiring, empowering and effective way to set and achieve these intentions because it’s coming from a place of inspiration and emotion. Your intentions will be rooted in YOU………your  purpose.

Let’s Change The Definition Of Goals

So let’s change the definition of ‘goals’ to make it more inspired and aligned so that your thoughts, actions, choices and behaviors are in focus. So that every day, you are clear about what you’re going to do, who you’re going to be, how you’re going to work on your mindset, the thoughts you’re going to focus on, and the limiting beliefs you’re going to try and overcome.

I want you to feel inspired so that your goals are merely a marker for your purpose in life.

 Now Get Dreaming Big

I talk a lot about ‘dreaming big’ and for good reason – to build and create your dream life, you need to first allow yourself to dream!

Not only do you DESERVE everything you ever want in life, but you can also get it. And the first step is opening your mind to the possibility of your dreams & goals coming true.

Yes, it can be that simple.

Intention-setting is all about your mindset and how you train your brain. And you first need to allow yourself to dream and come up with the best ideas ever. Don’t get all anxious trying  to figure out the ‘how’, right now, it’s all about the ‘what’.

What do you want to achieve? What do you want to discover? What do you want to see in the world? What do you WANT? Get thinking and answer these questions for yourself.

Overcome the fear of goal setting

Now Narrow It Down 

All your dreams are  possible…but for now, you need to narrow it down and start with your top three goals so that you can focus your attention on energy on the goals that will have the biggest impact on your life.

From your “DREAM” list, what are the top 3 goals that will you make you over-the-moon happy if you achieved them?

Make sure to tune into your emotions and how those goals are making you feel. If you find yourself smiling to yourself and getting excited, we have a winner.

Ok Now Be Specific 

Describe your top 3 goals with as much detail as possible. The more detail, the better, because this will help your brain gain more clarity on what it needs to figure out and how to strategize to achieve your goals.

Clarity will give you power because it will become easier to determine the logical steps you need to take to achieve your goals.

 Ok……………..Strategize 

What do you need to do? Are there specific steps that you need to take to achieve your goal? You will need steps as well as a timeline for each so that you are holding yourself accountable. Remember SMART goals

This part might require a bit of research if you don’t know what steps you should be taking. But make the time to create a solid and clear strategy so that every day, week and month, you know what steps you should be taking towards your goal.

Evaluate

Evaluate your plan and timeline as often as possible to make sure that you are on track towards achieving your goal.

If something isn’t working or you are not making progress, then it’s a sign that you need to go back and re-evaluate. Is there something else you should be doing? It may be as simple as just tweaking the direction.

Constantly evaluate your progress and the effectiveness of your plan so that you don’t waste time using a strategy that isn’t working.
