5 Reasons You Need To Set Goals
I’ve been goal-setting for close to 30 years and I’ve learned a LOT along the way.
So let’s start with the basics: the reasons why you should be setting goals.
1. Goals give you direction
Yep, they sure do!! Do you wake up in the morning knowing exactly what you want to accomplish that day? Do you wake up feeling excited and driven to tackle the day head on?
Goals will help you do that. The moment that you get clarity on what you want to achieve, it becomes easier to figure out the steps that you need to take to get to your end goal.
It then becomes a lot easier to determine your daily, weekly and monthly strategy on what you have to focus on, what you need to learn and what you need to accomplish so that by the end of the year, you slayed your goals.
I start every morning by looking at my daily plan. Secret I do this before I go to bed each night. Makes it easy for me to see exactly what I need to get done.
Yes, it’s that easy.
Setting goals will you direction & purpose every day.
Even if it’s one little step that you’re taking like going for a walk to get your body moving or practicing self-care because you have a high stress job, at the end of the day, you can go to bed with the peace of mind that you took one step to get your closer to achieving your goal.
2. Goals guide your day-to-day decisions
Having clarity on your goals will guide your day-to-day decisions. If you know what goals you want to accomplish, you will make more mindful & intentional choices every day. Your focus will be on the things you have outlined for yourself that day.
Trying to lose weight? Then you might not reach for that bag of chips and will snack on something healthy instead.
Maybe you trying to build on your business? So then instead of watching Netflix for eons, you could invest your time on steps to help make this a reality.
Your goals will help guide your day-to-day decisions
because you will have the mindset of “I want to accomplish (insert goal here) and this is what I need to do right now to get one step closer to it.”
3. Goals help you make the most out of life
Setting goals requires an initial investment of time and effort because you need to sit down and dig deep to figure out what makes you happy, what do you want to accomplish and what are some dreams that you’d like to achieve.

So, by allowing yourself to dream big and to let your mind and imagination wander into place that you thought were out of reach, you’re opening your mind to new possibilities.

How amazing would it feel to wake up every day and to take advantage of every moment and every opportunity that comes your way!

4. Goals challenge you
The first challenge you need to address is to allow yourself to overcome your limiting beliefs that are holding you back from living your dream life. What is holding you back from letting your mind dream big and think about all the amazing things you want to accomplish.

Goals should be challenging
and you know what? They should also be scary and once you overcome that fear and achieve those goals, you’ll feel almost invincible and will want to continue pushing your boundaries and doing even more.
